Verizon to expand area 4G service

Verizon Wireless has announced that it is expanding the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Savannah on Dec. 15.  As of November 17, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is available in 179 markets across the country and supports 16 4G LTE-enabled devices.

With the upcoming network expansion, residents in areas such as Skidaway, Whitemarsh, Wilmington and Tybee Islands, Garden City, Rincon, Springfield, Guyton, Pembroke, Richmond Hill, Midway and Hinesville with 4G LTE devices will be able to take advantage of the 4G network with speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless’ 3G network.

In Savannah, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is currently available in the commercial and residential areas of the city including historic downtown Savannah and the riverfront as well as Thunderbolt, Garden City, Port Wentworth and Pooler.
