Springfield native Hannah Dasher will star in the title role of “A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline,” the life story of country music legend Patsy Cline, being presented by the Savannah Theatre from Jan. 25-Feb. 3. The musical reinacts Cline’s journey to stardom, from her humble beginnings to her concerts at the Grand Ole Opry, Las Vegas and Carnegie Hall.

Dasher will perform 20 of Cline’s biggest hit songs, including “Crazy,” “Walkin After Midnight,” “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” and “Sweet Dreams.” Dasher grew up listening to country radio and she claims that her first cassette, “Patsy Cline’s Greatest Hits,” taught her how to sing.

After graduating from the University of Georgia, Dasher moved to Nashville to pursue a full-time music career. She recently signed her first major songwriting deal with BMG. She will spend 2013 writing new material and working with hit songwriter and producer Jeff Stevens.

The show also features Michael Zaller, regular Savannah Theatre cast member, who will play multiple roles, such as Cline’s hometown radio DJ, Nashville record producer Owen Bradley, and stand-up comics at the Opry and Las Vegas.

The Savannah Theatre band, along with country fiddle player Steve Trismen from Asheville, N.C., and pianist/steel guitar player Bobby Hamilton from Nashville, will recreate the original musical arrangements from the era.
