As part of his continuing education and training in the administration of law enforcement, Chief Mike Bohannon of the Rincon Police Department recently attended the 2011 Annual Summer Training conference sponsored by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.

Heads of law enforcement agencies from throughout the state participated in the four-day conference.  The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is responsible for the delivery of training to the chiefs of Georgia’s police departments and law enforcement agencies.

The Summer Training Conference was held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center from July 24-27. This year’s conference covered a variety of topics such as:  “Georgia POST Update,” “GOHS and Georgia Crash Reporting System,” “Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children,” “Prescription Drug Abuse and Diversion,” “Georgia Firearms Law for Executives,” “WIN With the Media,” “Police ChangeMaker Program,” “Terrorism Trends – Understanding and Addressing International and Domestic Threats,” “Intelligence Led Policing,” “2010-2011 Legal Update” and “Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council: Increased Services, Renewed Focus and Commitment.”

Chief Bohannon was among more than 490 heads of law enforcement agencies attending the 44th Annual Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Summer Training Conference. In addition to the Chiefs attendance at the conference, a significant number of departmental command staff were also present to learn about training topics that will benefit their department and community.

Chief Woodrow W. Blue Jr. of the Milledgeville Police Department, president of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, encouraged the chiefs to “continue to serve your community and excel in your dedication to the law enforcement profession.”
