Fort Stewart to hold annual drive-through flu clinic

POSTED: November 1, 2011 11:33 a.m.

The 4th Annual Fort Stewart Drive-Thru Flu Clinic is scheduled for Nov. 2-3, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., both days in the Winn Army Community Hospital overflow parking lot, which is located on Fort Stewart at the corner of Harmon Avenue and 6th Street.

Twelve licensed providers from Winn ACH will administer flu shots in four drive-thru lanes at the clinic. All military beneficiaries, federal employees, military retirees and their family members over the age of 6 months are eligible to receive the vaccination free of charge. No appointment necessary.

The first Fort Stewart Drive-Thru Flu Clinic was held in 2008 as a joint emergency preparedness exercise between the installation and Liberty County. The goal was to prepare for a pandemic in which a mass vaccine distribution would be needed. Due to its success, the Drive-Thru Flu Clinic is now an annual event held each fall on Fort Stewart.
