Manna House teams with First Baptist Church of Rincon for Thanksgiving meals

POSTED: November 4, 2011 11:45 a.m.

Thanksgiving is a time for families to get together with food to share in their blessings. As the holidays approach, many are making do with far fewer resources due to economy, job loss, or other financial hardships.

Manna House Food Pantry continues to see new faces each month visiting the pantry for the first time.  Last year they served over 200 families with a Thanksgiving meal. This year they have partnered with First Baptist Church of Rincon to assist families with a Thanksgiving meal. By working together, they are anticipating to serve 600 families this year. This meal will consist of items needed to make a Thanksgiving meal for their family.

This assistance is open to residents of Effingham County; apply during Manna House Pantry office hours Monday, noon-2:30 p.m.; Nov. 10, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; or Nov 12,  9 a.m.-noon. The deadline is Nov. 12.

The holidays are also an appropriate time to show one’s appreciation by donating time and resources to those less fortunate. For more information contact Manna House at 826-2037 or Lisa Bush 665-1985.
