Effingham School Superintendent Randy Shearouse was honored at the Relay For Life team rally Tuesday night at Pine Street Baptist Church in Guyton.

He received an appreciation award for having 100 percent school participation as well as the School Superintendent of the Year for the 2011 South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society.

He is pictured with Mary Ann Thorton, Effingham’s Relay For Life committee chairperson. Beatriz Miranda was also introduced at the ACS community manager for the 2012 Relay For Life and team captains were given their information packets to start raising money.

The next Relay For Life meeting will be Jan. 10 at 5:30 p.m. for captains and 7 p.m. for teams. For more information or to get involved with the 2012 Effingham County Relay For Life fundraiser, contact Mirada at beatriz.miranda@cancer.org or call her at (912) 355-5196.
