Retired Staff Sgt. James Sapp visited with cadets in the Effingham Civil Air Patrol Cadet Squadron on May 14 to share his experiences in World War II. Sapp shared narrow escapes and fortunate blessings encountered as he moved from place to place and assignment to assignment during the war.

Sapp also provided cadets the opportunity to examine the many items he collected while fighting for our country during World War II. From a German compass to part of an Allied parachute, the collection is quite extensive and generated many questions from the cadets.
