The Georgia Salzburger Society will hold its annual Labor Day event Sept. 3 from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., on the grounds of Jerusalem Lutheran Church.

The worship service and program will start at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church. The program will focus on John Adam Treutlen and historic books. Vince Exley will deliver a genealogical report, and Rev. John Derrick of Newberry (S.C.) College will have an Old Ebenezer book presentation.

Richard Loper, immediate past president of the Historic Effingham Society, will be in costume as Treutlen, a leading citizen of early Ebenezer and Effingham County who was the first governor of Georgia. Loper will discuss Treutlen’s many accomplishments.

Herb Hinely will announce the winners of the Hinely Salzburger poster contest. This year’s theme was “John Adam Treutlen—Georgia’s First Constitutional Governor.”

Rev. John Barichivich, pastor of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, will lead a cemetery marker unveiling at the site of the recently-discovered graves.

Margaret Waters, a genealogist from Savannah, will hold genealogy workshops at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The old lemonade barrel will be open for business, as will the marketplatz, with raisin bread and fresh fruits and vegetables available. Also on hand will be a Pinzgauer cow, and kids can enjoy a free pony carriage ride. There also will be craft exhibits, such as blacksmithing, arrowhead making and basket weaving. Jerusalem Lutheran Church  youth will have food for sale.
