‘Dancing With the Stars’ takes the stage Saturday

POSTED: October 4, 2012 8:29 p.m.

Seven local dancers and their professional counterparts will take to the Effingham County High School stage Saturday night for the second annual Effingham Dancing With The Stars.

The event is a fundraiser for the Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance Program.

Last year’s winner, Effingham County director of community relations Adam Kobek, won’t be defending his crown. But last year’s leading money raiser, Dr. James Cornwell with Effingham Health System, is returning. Heather Sandstrom, who also was a part of the inaugural Effingham Dancing With the Stars, also is part of this year’s event.

Other contestants include Jincy Hinely, Honey Jo Senter, Stephanie Johnson, Sherlock Holmes and Chanses Bowers.

Online voting is available through Pay Pal and the dancers’ individual biographies on the Effingham Theatre’s Web site, www.effinghamtheatre.com. To see the Dancing With the Stars page, click on the Effingham Dancing With the Stars tab in the top left corner of the Effingham Theatre’s home page.

Votes are $1 each and voters may vote as often as they wish. All money received online goes to the Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance Program.

The event begins at 7 p.m. and refreshments will be served during intermission. Last year’s event raised nearly $16,000.
