Tourney raises $10K to fight Alzheimer’s

The 2nd Annual David Jimenez Open Golf Tournament raised $10,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Seventy-eight players competed in a captain’s choice scramble at Lost Plantation Golf Club in Rincon.


The first-place team members were Danny Tirey, Alan Kersey, Terry Lennox and Pete Snow.


David Jimenez is a 73-year-old retired PGA member, and a past member of Lost Plantation Golf Club.  He has suffered with Alzheimer’s disease for 12 years and he now resides at Savannah Commons Arbors Memory Care in Savannah. David’s wife, Arlene, and Joe Fletcher were tournament co-chairmen and expressed their thanks to the city of Rincon; Lost Plantation Golf Club members and staff; St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the Effingham County community for their generosity and support of this event.


The 3rd Annual David Jimenez Open will be held Oct. 5, 2013, at Lost Plantation Golf Club.
