Ansleigh Wright, Mary Surber, Lauren Stark, Megan Collins, Hayden Lee, Heather Lee and Skie Crowe show off the jewelry designs the members of Girls Scout Troop 30197 created in earning their junior jeweler badge. Each girl also picked out a bead to be part of a beaded key chain for a fellow Girl Scout who was in the hospital.

Girls in Troop 30197 earned their junior jeweler badge with the help of Megan Collins, owner/designer of Meg-E-May’s Fun Jewelry for the Kid at Heart in Pooler. The day began with the girls viewing many ready-for-sale pieces as Collins explained how they were made and showed them the tools needed for the variety of pieces.

Then the girls had a chance to make their own jewelry from everyday objects (squinky rings), metal (charm bracelets) and from another culture (Egypt-beaded bracelets/key chains). Next the girls joined together to make a “sparkly gift” and each picked out beads to make a beaded key chain for a Girl Scout sister who was in the hospital.

At the close of the meeting, the girls enjoyed a little shopping time.
