The City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs and the Tara Feis Committee invites everyone to the 22nd annual Tara Feis Irish Celebration at Emmet Park on Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.  All events and stage performances are free and open to the public.

Organized by Department of Cultural Affairs and Tara Feis Committee, the family-friendly Feis (pronounced “fesh”) — or festival — will feature live performances, food, art activities, crafts and games hosted with Irish ceremony, tradition and hospitality.

Tara Feis is a free, non-alcoholic event geared toward families and children.

Festivities begin at 11 a.m. with an official Irish opening ceremony. The main stage will feature plenty of traditional Irish dancing, as well as live performances by, folksinger Harry O’Donoghue with special guest Carroll Settle and Tom O’Carroll and two performances by the award-winning Irish band Runa.

The Tara Feis children’s stage will feature a full day of entertainment, including performances from Magician and Author Debbie O’Carroll, the puppets of Conrad Hartz, and traditional Irish dancing performances by Glor na Daire Irish Dance School and the Irish Dancers of Savannah.

Not only will you enjoy the performances but, a spinning and weaving demonstration has also been added to this year’s festivities. Weaving is a skill that has been a part of Irish culture for centuries and handed down through many generations.
