Clyo Youth Chapter was recognized as the outstanding chapter of the year at the Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 38th Grand Youth Session, held in Statesboro on April 25-26. There are 47 youth chapters in the Grand Youth Chapter.

This year’s theme, “Leaders: Being Proactive and Shaping their Own Future,” was exemplified throughout the session.

Also from the Clyo Youth Chapter, Louise Harris took second place in scrapbook competition. The scrapbook documents community service projects, workshops, current trends and issues for youth, networking with other youth chapters and supporting their events, members’ academic and athletic achievements.

Robbie Cope Jr., a second-grade student at Guyton Elementary School, placed second in the Wilma S. Wallace King and Queen competition. Cope also won the title of king for Savannah District No. 1 Youth Chapter on April 6.

Clyo also had two members re-elected as grand youth officers. Jazmyn Cope was chosen Grand Youth Chapter treasurer, and Ineza Garvin was re-elected Grand Youth Chapter marshal.  Cope was elected to the position of marshal.

Clyo Youth Chapter expresses its sincere appreciation to those who continuously offer support of their efforts. The Youth Chapter’s motto is “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” Phil. 4:13 KJV.

Advisors are Sister Beverly Scott, youth director, and Worthy Matron Altena Garvin and past matron Clara Williams, assistant directors.
