Barrow to host constituent transition meeting Friday

POSTED: December 6, 2012 7:41 p.m.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. John Barrow (D-Augusta) will host a “constituent transition meeting” in Savannah on Friday.

Beginning in January, Barrow will no longer represent Chatham County and parts of Effingham County. The event will help ensure a smooth transition for casework still pending with Congressman Barrow as Congressman Jack Kingston (R-Savannah) begins representing the area.

Congressman Kingston and members of his staff have been invited to the event, which will be held at 450 Mall Boulevard, Suite A, from 5-6:30 p.m.

“This event will allow folks that I currently represent to meet Congressman Kingston’s staff and begin the process of transferring pending casework over to his office,” said Barrow. “It’s been an honor to serve the people of this area, and I want to do all I can to facilitate a smooth transition.”

Barrow’s staff has worked very hard to ensure that constituents across the 12th District do not have to travel far to get access to help from the federal government.

In all 22 counties of the district, Barrow’s staff holds office hours in addition to numerous events for constituents.  In 2011, Congressman Barrow’s staff returned more than $3.7 million to district residents, and in 2012, more than $2.1 million.
