Boy Scout Troop 665 will have a work day Saturday at its Log Landing Road camp and needs help.

The troop has received a donation of 10 gallons of exterior paint and needs painters to paint the roof of the pole barn. To reach a safe elevation, they also will need a bucket truck or extension ladders.

Scouts also need chainsaws and operators to cut down a number of pines that will be pulled to the front of the camp, after all the limbs have been removed. Those trees will be taken to a sawmill and will be turned into lumber to be used at the camp.

Scouts have the opportunity to earn an achievement patch for making a canoe or kayak journey. Adults are needed as chainsaw operators to clear a path on Ebenezer Creek between Log Landing and Long Bridge Road. Scouts also are looking for help to stretch a fence and secure it and may be on the lookout for tractors, backhoes or a bush hog.

Also needed are the services of a surveyor to tag the property corners.

Those who are interested in helping the Scouts should bring gloves, pruning shears, bug spray, rakes, shovels and a lunch. Water will be provided.

The camp has been the property of Effingham Scouts since 1944. Georgia Power and the friends of Georgia Power have committed a work day and help for the camp side gate. Gates and fencing have been donated. A written plan for the camp’s improvement is under way.
