Meeting the challenge

Twenty-three students at South Effingham Middle were awarded with the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

Students at South Effingham Middle School who are currently enrolled in physical education classes took part in the Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge.

This fitness test measures the student’s endurance, strength, flexibility and agility. Students were tested in five different categories: a mile run, a shuttle run, sit-ups, push-ups and the sit and reach.

Twenty-three students ranked in the 85th percentile or higher on all five test areas.  Those students were awarded with the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

The students that were recognized as Presidential Award Winners are: sixth grade –  Megan Wright, Kelly Shuman, Allyn Regencia, Emma Wheeler, Miriam Coon, Jordan Lancaster, Jacob VanMaanen, Dylon Oliver, Tanner Allgood, Joey Lee, Bryan Winkles; seventh grade – Kailey Kessler, Sydney Wilson, Katelyn Stewart, Joseph Connolly, Evyn Insalaco, Connor Rickman, Kameron Henninger; and eighth grade – Cheyenne Pierson, Brooke Brabham, Olivia Laverenz, Dylan Pittman and James Reimer.
