The Effingham County Board of Education recently recognized some of the teachers and staff members who retired from the school system at the end of the 2011-12 school year.
Honored by the BoE were retirees Gail Ellis (hired in 1987), Evonne Mobley (1974), Susie Hodges (1988), Judy Cannon (1987), Nancy Adkins (1991), Pauline Gaines (1990), Jane Smart (2006), Linda Tillman (2002) and Norma Wallace (1973). Each received a gift as a token of the school board's appreciation.
Other school system retirees were recognized at a ceremony in the spring.
