Tickets for former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s appearance at Georgia Southern University will be distributed Tuesday, Sept. 11, the university announced.

Tickets will be distributed from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Hanner Fieldhouse box office. Tickets also will be available at Georgia Southern’s City Campus, 58 E. Main St., next to Statesboro City Hall, during regular business hours.

Another distribution site will be the Coastal Georgia Center, at 305 Fahm St. in Savannah, during regular business hours.

All tickets are complimentary and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will not be available at the door Sept. 18.

Attendees are asked to arrive early and note that doors will close at 6:45 p.m. No one will be admitted to the event after that time. No photographs or recording of the event will be allowed.

The event itself will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Albright was chosen by President Bill Clinton as the first female U.S. secretary of state in 1997. At the time, she was the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government. Albright received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, from President Obama earlier this year.

Before becoming secretary of state, Albright served as the U.S. permanent ambassador to the United Nations from 1993-1997. She is a professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and is the chairwoman of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and the Pew Global Attitudes Project and serves as president of the Truman Scholarship Foundation.

She also is a member of an advisory body, the U.S. Defense Department’s Defense Policy Board.
Albright is the chairwoman of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm, and of Albright Capital Management LLC, an investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets.

She is also the author of five best-selling books, including “Prague Winter: A Personal Story of Remembrance and War: 1937-1948.”
