For her 10th birthday this year, Emily Jarriel, a fourth-grader at Guyton Elementary School, decided to do something very different.

Emily was fearful that the school’s art program might come to an end because of budget cuts. At her recent birthday party, Emily asked her guests to bring unwrapped art supplies to donate to Guyton Elementary’s art program in lieu of gifts.

Her art teacher, Marcie Crosby, couldn’t be more thankful and appreciative to Emily for her actions, in addition to all her students and parents for their continued support.
